GSPCA, Forest Dept Rescue Turtles, Parrots in Vadodara From Illegal Captivity

Vadodara: In a drive to prevent wildlife from being kept illegally in the city, the Gujarat Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA), along with the Forest Department, rescued eight parrots and two turtles from different locations in Vadodara.

The action was taken as part of a campaign being conducted by the GSPCA to rescue wildlife kept by people in residential areas.

The two turtles were rescued from Rajmahal after a GSPCA worker came across a social media post showing the animals. Following contact with the concerned person, both turtles were handed over to the Forest Department.

Meanwhile, eight parrots were rescued from different locations, including Chhani, Chhanigam, Ajwa Road’s Vrajdham Society and Warsia. The parrots were found at Chhani Bhathujinagar, Chhani Pirwala Mohalla, Ajwa Road’s Vrajdham Society and Warsia.

According to officials, the people from whom the parrots were rescued said they were unaware that keeping parrots was prohibited and claimed that they had kept the birds without knowing the legal provisions.

The Forest Department has rescued and taken custody of the two turtles and eight parrots. The concerned persons were asked to submit written replies, but they did not appear before the department on Wednesday.

Snake Enters MS University’s Head Office, Staff Panic

Meanwhile, panic spread at Maharaja Sayajirao University (MS University) on Wednesday morning after a snake entered the university’s head office.

An employee spotted the snake and raised an alarm, following which other staff members also noticed it and rushed out of the office.

The university staff informed Wildlife Rescue Trust’s Arvind Pawar, following which rescuer Hardik Pawar reached the spot and safely rescued the snake. The snake was later identified as a common snake.

The staff breathed a sigh of relief after the snake was rescued.
