History-Sheeter Bhavesh Jhiliya Held Under PASA, Sent to Bhuj Jail

Ahmedabad: Sarkhej police have detained Bhavesh Rabari, alias Bhavesh Jhiliya, a member of Patan’s notorious ‘Mastani Gang’ and an accused in multiple criminal cases, under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA) and sent him to Bhuj Central Jail.

Jhiliya, who is facing more than 20 criminal cases in Ahmedabad, Patan and other areas, was detained on Wednesday night after Ahmedabad police secured approval for preventive action against him.

The action came shortly after Jhiliya was granted bail by a Mehsana court in a case involving an illegal weapon. He was produced before the court on September 2 after his remand ended and was granted bail. However, Sarkhej police immediately detained him under PASA and took him to Bhuj Central Jail.

Jhiliya is also an accused in a high-profile attack on a real estate agent outside the main gate of Karnavati Club on SG Highway. Police said the attack was linked to a dispute over land brokerage and property dealings, following which Sarkhej police launched efforts to trace him.

The development comes days after the Mehsana LCB claimed to have foiled a conspiracy to kill Jhiliya. Six people, including an alleged shooter, were arrested following police raids in areas including Katosan.

Police suspect rivalry between two groups, including a struggle for supremacy through social media reels, as one of the possible motives behind the alleged murder plot. Investigators are also probing a previous firing incident involving a person from Detroj, along with possible land disputes and an alleged contract-killing angle.

With Jhiliya now lodged in Bhuj Central Jail under PASA, police said the preventive action was aimed at curbing the activities of individuals with criminal backgrounds and maintaining law and order in Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
