Centre to Acquire 94.48 Hectares for NH-27 Widening Project in Gujarat

Kutch: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a notification to acquire 94.482 hectares of land in Kutch for the widening and improvement of NH-27 between Samakhiyali and Maliya.

The land falls along the 33-kilometre Samakhiyali–Shikarpur stretch of NH-27. The proposed work includes widening the highway to six to eight lanes, along with related maintenance and operational works.

The notification, issued on August 31, 2026, covers land in several villages of Bhachau taluka, including Samakhiyali, Piprapati, Katariya Juna, Katariya Nava, Vandhiya and Shikarpur.

According to the notification, both private and government land are proposed to be acquired. The land includes agricultural, residential and industrial plots, along with roads, nalas, ponds and other government land.

Landowners and other interested persons have been given 21 days from the date of publication of the notification in the Official Gazette to raise objections to the proposed acquisition.

Objections have to be submitted in writing to the Special Land Acquisition Officer, Collector Office, Kutch (Bhuj). The competent authority will provide an opportunity for objectors to be heard before taking a decision.
