Gujarat Gas Raises Domestic PNG Rate by Rs 1.19 per Unit

Surat: Formerly known as Gujarat Gas, Gujarat Energy Ltd has raised the price of domestic cooking gas supplied through piped natural gas (PNG) by Rs 1.19 per standard cubic metre (SCM), with the new rate coming into effect from September 3.

The company notified consumers of the revision through SMS on Thursday. The domestic PNG rate has been increased from Rs 49.03 to Rs 50.22 per SCM. Including applicable taxes, consumers will now pay Rs 53.22 per SCM.

The price hike is likely to increase monthly household gas expenses, depending on consumption. Surat has a significant PNG consumer base, with more than seven lakh households connected to Gujarat Energy’s network.

Since PNG is primarily used for cooking, the revised tariff is expected to add to household expenses. Consumers will now pay Rs 1.19 more per SCM before taxes compared with the earlier rate. DeshGujarat
