ACB Gujarat Nabs Clerk for Taking Bribe for Land Record Entry

Panchmahal: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat on Saturday caught a clerk while allegedly accepting a ₹25,000 bribe for processing a land-related application and recording the transaction in official records.

The accused has been identified as Surpalsinh Bhursinh Zala, 38, a clerk at the Mamlatdar Office in Jambughoda, Panchmahal district. He is a resident of Godhra and originally hails from Kakchiya in Lunawada taluka of Mahisagar district.

According to the ACB, the complainant had approached the Mamlatdar Office on behalf of his clients, who had purchased land. An application was submitted to enter the clients’ names in the land records following the execution of the sale deed.

The accused allegedly demanded ₹25,000 from the complainant to carry out the required proceedings and make the necessary entry in the records.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB and lodged a complaint. Based on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap at the Mamlatdar Office in Jambughoda on September 5, 2026.

During the trap, the complainant allegedly handed over the demanded ₹25,000 to Zala, following which ACB officials caught him while accepting the bribe. The entire ₹25,000 was recovered from the spot.

Further legal proceedings have been initiated in the case. DeshGujarat
