ACB Gujarat Traps Cop Taking Bribe to Facilitate Bail for Accused

Dahod: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat caught a policeman red-handed while allegedly accepting a ₹1 lakh bribe at the Vardhari Outpost in Mahisagar district on Saturday.

The accused is Kesarsinh Ratuji Chavda, an unarmed Police Sub-Inspector (Class-3) posted at Kothamba Police Station and the Vardhari Outpost in Mahisagar district.

According to the ACB, Chavda allegedly demanded ₹2 lakh from a complainant in connection with a fatal accident case involving the complainant’s vehicle driver. The bribe was allegedly sought to facilitate the accused’s bail and ensure that he was not assaulted while in custody.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the Dahod ACB Police Station. Based on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap at the Vardhari Outpost on Saturday.

During the operation, Chavda allegedly accepted ₹1 lakh from the complainant and was caught at the spot. The entire ₹1 lakh was recovered by the ACB. DeshGujarat
