Kinjal Rabari returns to her husband Ashok Chaudhary willfully amid “Kidnapping” allegations

Ahmedabad: Folk singer Kinjal Rabari (Desai) is once again in the news after a suspected kidnapping claim was made following an incident outside a mall in Chandkheda on Sunday.

According to the information available, Kinjal Rabari married Ashok Chaudhary in an inter-caste love marriage on May 2, 2024. She had reportedly tried to persuade her parents to accept the marriage, but they were allegedly not in favour of the relationship.

On March 10, 2026, Rabari reportedly contacted Ashok Chaudhary and went to his residence. She was allegedly taken from there to her parents’ home against her wishes, following which she was allegedly forced to file for divorce at a court in Radhanpur.

She was subsequently handed over to another man from the Rabari community. Later, Rabari posted a video on social media stating that she would return to Ashok Chaudhary of her own free will.

The latest incident took place at CBD Mall in Chandkheda, where Rabari had reportedly gone to watch a movie. CCTV footage from outside the mall shows Rabari standing with a man when a black Creta with dark-tinted windows arrived at the location.

According to the footage, a youth who arrived in the car appears to forcibly hold the man (“husband” from her own community) accompanying Rabari. Rabari is then seen opening the door of the Creta and getting inside the vehicle. The car subsequently leaves the premises.

A kidnapping complaint was reportedly brought to the police. However, after examining the CCTV footage, police found that Rabari appeared to open the vehicle’s door herself and enter the car.

The circumstances surrounding the incident and Rabari’s current whereabouts are subject to police verification. Further details are awaited.

Meanwhile Kinjal in a video released by her stated – “I am Kinjalben Desai, I am the wife of Ashokkumar Valabhai Chaudhary. And we both got married on 2/5/2024. After that I tried a lot to convince my family but since they did not believe me, I called my husband and we went together on 10/3/2026 of my own free will. After that I was forcibly taken to my parents house by beating up my husband. And my relatives forced me to sign the divorce in Radhanpur court. It was done against my will. I was handed over to another male. And there my life was in danger, my life was also in danger at my house, so I contacted my husband and I came with him. Today on 6/9/2026 I came with him. I came here of my own free will. I am safe and I am with him. So I request that no one should file a false case or complaint. Thank you.”
