Class 1 Officer Among 2 Gujarat Govt Officials Suspended Over Irregularities

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Revenue Department has suspended two officers, a superintendent of land records in Mehsana and a land records inspector in Bhavnagar, following complaints of alleged irregularities and lapses in the functioning of their respective offices.

The suspended officers have been identified as Bikisha Patel, a Class I officer serving as Superintendent of Land Records in Mehsana, and K N Pandya, a Class II Land Records Inspector posted in Bhavnagar-West. Separate suspension orders were issued by the Revenue Department on September 6 and 5, respectively.

It is learnt that Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who also holds the Revenue portfolio, ordered disciplinary action against the two officers.

According to Patel’s suspension order, a state-level inspection team from the Land Records Administration conducted surprise inspections at offices in Mehsana and Kadi. The inspection reportedly found shortcomings in the overall functioning and efficiency of the offices, including issues related to the processing of pending applications and adherence to prescribed procedures for disposing of cases.

The order stated that the lapses attributed to Patel were considered serious and warranted disciplinary action.

In Pandya’s case, the suspension order issued on September 5 said an inspection conducted by the Bhavnagar District Collector’s Office found deficiencies and irregularities in the overall functioning of the offices. DeshGujarat
