Surat Civic Body Demolishes Illegal Construction at Six Buildings
September 07, 2026
Surat: The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Monday carried out a major demolition drive against illegal construction in six buildings at TP Scheme No. 4 (Ashwini Kumar-Nawagam), Revenue Survey No. 1440, under Final Plot No. 23/A.
The action was taken after the developer allegedly constructed six floors instead of the approved Ground+4 (G+4) floors, violating the sanctioned building plan. The Central Zone/Central City Development Department had earlier issued notices directing the developer to stop the unauthorised construction.
Despite the notices, the additional floors were allegedly constructed, following which the civic authorities issued a final notice and launched the demolition drive using heavy machinery.
During the operation, the SMC demolished the unauthorised two additional floors constructed above the approved four floors across the six buildings. The demolition covered approximately 1,800 square metres of RCC structures and masonry work.
Deputy Town Planner Dharmesh R. Patel said the building plan for the site between TP Scheme No. 4 (Ashwini Kumar) and Final Plot No. 23/A had been approved for Ground+4 floors. The additional two floors constructed in violation of the approved plan were subsequently taken up for demolition by the municipal corporation. DeshGujarat
