BJP appoints election in-charge, coordinators for Gandhinagar civic body polls 2026

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed its election team for the upcoming Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) general elections 2026.

Gujarat BJP president Jagdish Vishwakarma announced the appointments on Wednesday, naming senior leaders, ministers and former municipal office-bearers for various election-related responsibilities.

BJP MLA from Ellisbridge Amit Shah has been appointed as the election in-charge, while former Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation deputy mayor Jatin Patel will serve as the co-election in-charge.

Cabinet Minister Rushikesh Patel has been appointed election in-charge minister, with Minister of State Sanjay Maheda as the co-election in-charge minister.

Former Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation mayor Mahendrasinh Rana has been appointed election coordinator, while another former mayor, Hitesh Makwana, and former municipal councillor Suresh Mehta have been appointed co-coordinators.

The appointments have been made ahead of the upcoming Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation elections, with the BJP expected to begin preparations for the polls. DeshGujarat
