The action against Das Pendawala followed a complaint from a customer who had purchased four 250-gram packets of kaju katri from Anatray and Grand Sons (Das Penda) in Subhanpura to gift to a doctor. The customer allegedly found fungus in the kaju katri after opening the packets.
VMC officials subsequently inspected the outlet, collected samples of the suspected kaju katri, silver-leaf kaju katri and kesar prasadi penda, and found the premises to be unhygienic. The shop was issued a notice and sealed.
During an inspection of Madhuram Sweet and Farsan in the T.P. 13-Chhani area, officials found misbranded food items and issued a notice to the trader. Ambika Caterers in Navayard and the BigBasket warehouse near Chhayapuri Railway Station were also issued Schedule-4 notices.
Meanwhile, under the Tobacco Act, VMC officials fined four traders in Bhayli, namely Khodiyar Enterprise, Sai Khushi Chaat Bhandar, Amrutam Chaat and Rajwadi Chai, Rs 200 each, collecting a total fine of Rs 800.
In another incident, a customer who ordered idli from Trinity Cafe in Alkapuri alleged that a dead fly was found in the sambhar parcel after reaching home. The customer returned to the cafe with the parcel and showed it to the staff. Further action in the matter was not immediately known. DeshGujarat
