Gujarat Govt clears Rs 20 crore for Phase 1 of Visavadar bypass road project

Junagadh: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved Rs 20 crore for the first phase of pre-construction activities for a bypass road around Visavadar town in Junagadh district.

The proposed bypass will connect the Bagasara-Jetpur State Highway with the Visavadar–Satadhar–Sasan Gir State Highway, helping divert heavy traffic away from the city.

The sanctioned amount will be used for land acquisition, utility shifting, preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and other pre-construction activities.

The decision follows representations from local office-bearers and residents seeking a bypass to ease traffic congestion in Visavadar.

Visavadar is an important route connecting several towns and tourist and pilgrimage destinations, including Satadhar Yatra Dham, Sasan Gir, Kankeshwari Temple, Rupal Dham Rampara, Nagbai Temple and Sant Shri Rohidas Temple at Sarasai. The Amreli–Somnath route as well as state highways connecting Bagasara, Jetpur, Dhari, Savarkundla, Junagadh, Mendarda and Keshod also pass through or near Visavadar.

The government said the bypass is aimed at reducing the traffic burden on the Visavadar urban area and improving connectivity in the region. DeshGujarat
