Flash Flood Risk Alert Issued by IMD for These Parts of Gujarat Till Sept 15

Vadodara: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather agency of the Government of India, has issued a flash flood risk warning for several parts of Gujarat for the next 24 hours, till 11:30 am on September 15.

According to the latest bulletin issued by the IMD’s Hydromet Division Flash Flood Guidance Cell, a low to moderate flash flood risk is likely over a few watersheds and neighbourhoods of the Meteorological (Met) Sub-divisions during the next 24 hours.

Saurashtra & Kutch: The areas at risk include Kutch, Morbi, Jamnagar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Junagadh, Gir Somnath and Rajkot districts.

The IMD has warned that surface runoff and inundation may occur in fully saturated soils and low-lying areas over the identified Areas of Concern (AoC) due to the rainfall expected during the next 24 hours.

The warning comes amid an active spell of monsoon rainfall over several parts of Gujarat, with heavy to very heavy rainfall forecast in parts of the state. DeshGujarat
