Vadodara City Gets Nearly 2.5 Inches of Rain on Ganesh Chaturthi Morning

Vadodara: Vadodara city witnessed intense rainfall on Monday morning as Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations got underway, bringing relief to residents from the recent heat and humidity.

Between 6 am and 10 am on September 14, Vadodara city recorded 60 mm (around 2.5 inches) of rainfall. Among the surrounding areas, Karjan recorded the highest rainfall at 68 mm, followed by Padra with 36 mm and Shinor with 22 mm during the same period.

Meanwhile, according to rainfall data recorded by Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) sensors at 12:30 pm on September 14, Dani Bazar recorded the highest rainfall in the city over the past 24 hours at 90 mm.

Asoj Office recorded 71.5 mm, followed by Gopipura at 64 mm, WZ (Harinagar OHT) at 62 mm, and Rupapura and Halo at 59 mm each.

Other locations also received significant rainfall. EZ (Ajwa OHT) recorded 53 mm, SZ (Manjalpur OHT) 49.5 mm, Tajpura and Pratappura 44 mm each, NZ (Sama OHT) 43 mm, Mahisagar (Dabka) 43.5 mm, Madar 30 mm, Gutar 11.5 mm and Ajwa Sarovar 9 mm over the past 24 hours.

The rain began early in the morning amid dark, overcast skies. Although the intensity eased later, the showers affected preparations for the arrival of Lord Ganesha in some areas. Commuters and pedestrians were seen using umbrellas and raincoats as they made their way through the city.

Waterlogging was reported in several parts of Vadodara, including Panigate and Ravpura Machhipith. Rainfall was also reported from Fatehgunj, Ajwa Road, Waghodia Road, Karelibaug, Subhanpura, Sayajigunj, Mandvi and Harni.
