Where Did It Rain in Gujarat? Here’s 24-Hour Rainfall Data

Ahmedabad: Gujarat received widespread rainfall over the past 24 hours, with several parts of South and Central Gujarat recording moderate to heavy showers. Kaprada in Valsad district recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 4.45 inches between 6 am on September 13 and 6 am on September 14.

According to rainfall data issued by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Valia in Bharuch recorded 3.82 inches, followed by Nanapondha in Valsad with 3.54 inches and Dharampur in Valsad with 3.43 inches.

Other areas that received significant rainfall include Barwala in Botad (3.39 inches), Becharaji in Mehsana (3.35 inches), Vansada in Navsari (3.27 inches), Vapi in Valsad (3.11 inches), Umarpada in Surat (3.03 inches), Chuda in Surendranagar (2.83 inches) and Garudeshwar in Narmada (2.76 inches).

Valsad district recorded some of the highest rainfall in the state, with Umbergaon receiving 2.64 inches. In Bharuch, Jhagadia recorded 2.48 inches, while Dediapada in Narmada received 2.40 inches.

Ahmedabad city recorded 1.69 inches of rainfall during the 24-hour period. Dholka received 0.87 inches, Viramgam 1.02 inches, Sanand 0.59 inches and Bavla 0.28 inches.

Several other parts of Gujarat also received moderate rainfall, with Navsari, Kheda, Surat, Anand, Dahod, Panchmahal, Junagadh, Aravalli, Mahisagar and Bhavnagar recording showers of varying intensity.

The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall across Gujarat, with four weather systems becoming active over the region. Ahmedabad is likely to receive heavy rainfall today and has been placed under a ‘Yellow Alert’.

The department has also forecast the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall and issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for Porbandar, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

Meanwhile, Dr. A.K. Das, Head of the Meteorological Department, said wind speeds are likely to reach 60–70 kmph.
