Vaishnaw to Launch 4 Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals, Gopalpur Railway Station in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will inaugurate, lay foundation stones for and dedicate various railway projects and passenger amenities in Gujarat through video conferencing today.

As part of the programme, Vaishnaw will dedicate four Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals (GCTs) to the nation at Bhimasar in Kutch, Devaliya in Junagadh, Chandisar in Banaskantha and Shivlakha in Kutch. He will also lay the foundation stone for another GCT at Linch in Mehsana.

The Union Minister will inaugurate the Gopalpur railway station in Kutch and flag off a new stoppage of the Bhuj–Shalimar Express at Anjar station, along with a Salt Container Train.

The projects are aimed at strengthening rail freight movement, logistics infrastructure and passenger connectivity across Gujarat.

The new Gopalpur station will improve rail access and passenger facilities in the region. It will also eliminate the need for engine reversal at Gandhidham for trains operating to and from Ahmedabad and Bhuj, reducing operational time.

The four GCTs will expand rail-based freight transportation and modernise cargo-handling facilities, providing industries with more efficient options for transporting goods by rail.

The new stoppage of the Bhuj–Shalimar Express at Anjar will provide direct rail connectivity to passengers in the area and save them the time and expense of travelling to other stations to board the train. DeshGujarat
