Gujarat to Geo-Tag, Map Manufacturing MSMEs on PM Gati Shakti Portal
September 17, 2026
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government is set to undertake GIS-based geo-tagging and mapping of manufacturing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the state under the Union Ministry of MSME’s Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme.
The project, being implemented by the MSME Commissionerate of Gujarat, aims to map manufacturing MSME units registered on the Udyog Portal onto the PM Gati Shakti Portal. The responsibility for carrying out the geo-tagging and mapping exercise has been entrusted to Gujarat Info Petro Limited (GIPL).
As part of the exercise, authorised representatives of GIPL will visit MSME units across the state. During these visits, the representatives will geo-tag the units and collect and verify the information required for the mapping process.
The MSME Commissionerate has urged all eligible MSME units to extend the necessary cooperation to GIPL representatives and provide the required information to ensure the smooth implementation of the project. Industry associations have also been asked to facilitate the exercise among their members.
The GIS-based mapping is expected to create an integrated and structured database of manufacturing MSMEs in Gujarat. The database will provide information that can support infrastructure planning, policy formulation and the effective implementation of various government schemes.
Integration of MSME data with the PM Gati Shakti platform is also expected to strengthen data-driven planning and decision-making. By providing a geographical view of MSME units along with relevant details, the mapping exercise could help authorities identify sector-specific requirements and plan infrastructure, support services and other facilities accordingly.
The MSME Commissionerate said the project would contribute to more effective, data-driven planning for the development of Gujarat’s MSME sector and improve the delivery of need-based support and amenities to businesses across the state. DeshGujarat
