September 18, 2026
Ahmedabad: In a move aimed at promoting sports and physical fitness, Gujarat University (GU) has opened its Sardar Patel Sports Complex for regular practice, athletic training and competitive events. The circular was issued by the university’s Physical Education Department.
Under the new monthly fee structure, students from GU-affiliated colleges and university departments can use the synthetic track free of charge. They will, however, be required to carry their identity cards and fee receipts.
School students will be charged ₹1,000 per month, while state- and national-level athletes will have to pay ₹1,500. The monthly fee for the general public has been fixed at ₹2,000.
For events, the synthetic track and badminton hall will cost ₹25,000 for half a day and ₹50,000 for a full day, excluding 18% GST. The boxing ring will be available for ₹11,000.
Charges for volleyball, handball, kabaddi, table tennis and judo-wrestling grounds or halls will range from ₹4,000 to ₹6,000 per session.
Institutions seeking to book the facilities will have to submit applications on their official letterheads. The synthetic track will remain open from 6.30 am to 9.30 am and 4 pm to 7 pm. DeshGujarat
