Gujarat sees widespread rain; Ahmedabad city tops the chart

Ahmedabad: Gujarat received widespread rainfall on Friday, with several parts of the state recording moderate to heavy showers between 6 am and 2 pm, according to data released by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Gandhinagar.

Ahmedabad city and Meghraj in Aravalli recorded the highest rainfall at 2.87 inches each during the eight-hour period. Talod in Sabarkantha received 2.52 inches, followed by Dediapada in Narmada with 2.36 inches and Modasa in Aravalli with 2.36 inches.

Kadana in Mahisagar recorded 2.24 inches, while Santrampur received 2.17 inches. Mansa in Gandhinagar recorded 2.13 inches, followed by Khanpur in Mahisagar with 2.09 inches and Kheralu in Mehsana with 2.01 inches.

Several other parts of the state also received significant rainfall. Wankaner in Morbi recorded 1.97 inches, while Mehsana and Kalol in Gandhinagar received 1.85 inches each. Gandhinagar city and Dehgam recorded 1.81 inches each, while Bayad in Aravalli and Daskroi in Ahmedabad received 1.77 inches each.

In central Gujarat, Nadiad and Bodeli recorded 1.38 inches each, while Nandod in Narmada received 1.34 inches. Dohad and Idar recorded 1.30 inches each. Savar Kundla in Amreli and Jetpur Pavi in Chhota Udepur received 1.22 inches each.

In south Gujarat, Umarpada in Surat recorded 1.57 inches, while Nanapondha in Valsad received 0.94 inches. Netrang in Bharuch recorded 0.91 inches, while Dharampur in Valsad received 0.75 inches.

Rainfall was comparatively lighter in parts of Saurashtra. Rajkot city recorded 0.28 inches, while Gondal received 0.24 inches. Amreli recorded 0.24 inches, and Bhavnagar city received 0.04 inches.

The SEOC data stated that 222 talukas across Gujarat witnessed showers between 6 am and 2 pm on Friday, with the heaviest showers reported in parts of north and central Gujarat. DeshGujarat
