Ahmedabad Police seize over 100 two-wheelers for flouting traffic norms

Ahmedabad: The Navrangpura police have seized 106 vehicles, including around 100 two-wheelers, during a weekend crackdown on reckless bikers and traffic violations on C.G. Road and surrounding areas.

The operation was conducted on Saturday and Sunday nights from 10 pm to 1 am, targeting two-wheelers involved in stunts, fitted with fancy or missing number plates, modified silencers and loud horns, as well as vehicles being driven without proper documents or by unlicensed drivers.

According to DCP Zone 1 Dr Harshad Patel, police had received frequent complaints about overspeeding, modified silencers, harassment of women and incidents such as mobile phone snatching on C.G. Road. The checking drive was therefore conducted at key locations, including C.G. Road and Municipal Market, with a particular focus on women’s safety.

“During the operation, a total of 106 vehicles were detained. Many of the two-wheelers were capable of rapid acceleration and could potentially be used in snatching incidents,” Patel said.

Police found that 21 vehicles did not have number plates, while several others lacked the required documents. Legal action was initiated against the violators.

Among the vehicles detained were 26 Suzuki Access scooters, 25 Burgman scooters and 19 Honda Activas. Police also detained four-wheelers, including a Thar, Kia and Scorpio, for violations such as the use of black window film and driving by unlicensed persons.

The police are also checking the details of the seized vehicles to determine whether any of them have been linked to criminal activities. DeshGujarat
