Borosil Renewables raises Gujarat capacity expansion investment to ₹1,100 crore

Ahmedabad: Solar glass manufacturer Borosil Renewables has raised the estimated investment for its planned 600 tonnes per day (TPD) capacity expansion at Bharuch in Gujarat to around ₹1,100 crore from the earlier estimate of ₹950 crore, citing supply-chain disruptions, exchange-rate fluctuations and higher commodity costs amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The company’s board on Tuesday approved the revised project cost and extended the commissioning timeline to the end of March 2027 from the earlier target of December 2026, according to a regulatory filing with the stock exchanges.

The expansion involves setting up two new furnaces, SG-4 and SG-5, each with a capacity of 300 TPD. Once operational, the project will increase Borosil Renewables’ total installed production capacity to 1,600 TPD from the existing 1,000 TPD.

The company said its existing 1,000 TPD capacity is currently fully utilised and that the additional capacity is expected to boost production volumes and sales.

Borosil Renewables said the project cost has increased by ₹150 crore, with the additional outlay also reflecting an expansion in the project scope. The company clarified that the additional ₹150 crore will be funded entirely through internal funds, with no increase in borrowings.

The company had originally disclosed the 600 TPD expansion on May 16, 2025, with an estimated investment of ₹950 crore.

Gujarat policy incentives

The board also took note of the Viksit Gujarat Industrial Policy 2026, notified by the Gujarat government on September 8.

Borosil Renewables said it would be eligible to apply for various incentives under the policy, including interest subsidy, power tariff subsidy, capital subsidy and EPF reimbursement.

The expanded capacity is expected to support higher production and sales as solar power generation capacity continues to grow. DeshGujarat
