SDLG inaugurates ₹300 crore Gujarat plant; plans ₹1500 crore India expansion

Ahmedabad: Construction equipment maker SDLG India has inaugurated a new ₹300 crore manufacturing plant in Gujarat as part of its broader plan to invest around ₹1,500 crore in India to expand capacity, deepen localisation and strengthen its manufacturing footprint.

The Gujarat facility, located in Gandhidham, will have the capacity to produce up to 3,000 units annually in a phased manner. It will manufacture key construction equipment, including wheel loaders, excavators and electric vehicles, while increasing sourcing from Indian suppliers.

The company has also unveiled 10 new construction equipment products spanning diesel and electric excavators, wheel loaders and motor graders for the infrastructure, construction and mining sectors. The new range includes diesel excavators with upgraded hydraulic systems, operator controls and safety features, along with electric equipment aimed at sustainable applications.

Soumyaranjan Dash, Head of Dealer Development and Brand Marketing at SDLG India, said the investment marks a significant milestone for the company and reflects its confidence in India’s manufacturing and infrastructure growth.

The company said it is working to develop a stronger Indian supplier ecosystem and increase localisation through partnerships with domestic vendors, with the aim of strengthening its supply chain.

Yang Xiaozhou, Head of Overseas Factory Project at Shandong Lingong Construction Machinery Co. Ltd. (SDLG), said India is entering a significant growth phase in the construction equipment industry and is expected to become the world’s second-largest market by 2030, according to ICEMA.

The phased expansion of the Gujarat plant will allow SDLG India to scale production in line with market demand while serving customers through a local manufacturing base. DeshGujarat
