Stray cattle menace: PDEU staffer dies after Activa collides with cow near GIFT City

Gandhinagar: A 48-year-old housekeeping employee of PDEU University died after his Activa scooter collided with a stray cow near GIFT City late on September 16. A case of accidental death has been registered at Dabhoda Police Station.

The deceased, Maheshbhai Ramabhai Prajapati, a resident of Patelvas in Valad village, was returning home after completing his shift at PDEU University when the accident occurred.

According to the details, Maheshbhai and his younger brother Nareshbhai worked in the university’s housekeeping department. On September 15, the brothers had reported for their usual shift from 4 pm to 1 am. After completing his shift, Maheshbhai left for Valad on his Activa at around 1 am.

While descending the Signature Bridge towards GIFT City, a stray cow suddenly came onto the road. His scooter collided with the animal, causing him to fall onto the road and suffer serious head and other injuries.

Locals and passersby rushed Maheshbhai to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital in a private vehicle. After receiving initial treatment, he was referred to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital for further treatment.

Maheshbhai succumbed to his injuries on September 21 while undergoing treatment, five days after the accident.

He is survived by his wife and four children, including three daughters and a 13-year-old son. The death has left his family devastated, as Maheshbhai was the primary breadwinner. DeshGujarat
