Gujarat Govt, Suzuki and JICA to sign MoU to expand CBG plants across state

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government, Suzuki Motor Corporation and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants in Gujarat with Japanese financial and technical assistance.

The proposed MoU was discussed during a meeting in Gandhinagar between Gujarat Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai, Cooperation Minister Jitubhai Vaghani, Minister of State for Revenue Sanjaysinh Mahida and a Japanese delegation comprising officials from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Suzuki and JICA.

Representatives from Suzuki and JICA presented a proposal to provide financial and technical support for expanding biogas plants through cooperative dairies in Gujarat. The initiative also aims to boost the production of organic fertiliser alongside CBG.

Senior officials from the Cooperation, Revenue and Finance departments, along with representatives of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Banas Dairy and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), also attended the meeting. DeshGujarat
