Fire breaks out at Gayatri Bhavan restaurant near Vadodara railway station

Vadodara: A fire broke out at the well-known Gayatri Bhavan restaurant in the Jan Mahal complex opposite Vadodara railway station in the Sayajiganj area on Thursday, triggering brief panic among commuters, traders and local residents. However, no casualties were reported.

Soon after the blaze was noticed, the restaurant operator and locals attempted to douse the fire by pouring water on it. Their efforts helped prevent the flames from spreading to nearby shops and structures.

The fire caused damage to goods and furniture inside the restaurant, with the operator estimating the financial loss at around Rs 2 lakh.

The restaurant owner alleged that although the fire brigade was informed promptly, the response team reached the spot after a delay. Local traders said the damage could have been limited had the fire brigade arrived sooner.

Railway police and local authorities have taken note of the incident and initiated an inquiry to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
