Envision Energy inaugurates 2.66 GW wind turbine blade plant in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Envision Energy has inaugurated its wind turbine generator blade manufacturing plant at Bavla in Ahmedabad, marking a significant addition to Gujarat’s renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem.

Spread across 14 acres, the facility has an installed annual manufacturing capacity of 2.66 GW and will produce advanced wind turbine blades measuring up to 100 metres in length. The plant features smart manufacturing technologies and is expected to support India’s transition towards clean energy, the company said.

Union Minister for Power Pralhad Joshi, who joined the inauguration virtually, described the facility as an important step towards strengthening Aatmanirbhar Bharat and expanding India’s domestic renewable energy manufacturing capabilities.

The blades manufactured at the Gujarat facility are expected to cater to domestic requirements while supporting the growing demand for reliable green power from high-tech sectors, including data centres and semiconductor manufacturing.

RPV Prasad, Managing Director of Envision Energy India, said the facility, developed in collaboration with Dilip Buildcon and the Ashoka team, has the potential to generate more than 4,000 direct jobs and over 15,000 employment opportunities across the wider ecosystem in the future.

Envision Energy has a significant presence in India’s wind energy market, with the company stating that it accounts for around 45% of the country’s wind market.

The China-headquartered renewable energy company had broken ground for this facility last September. The plant is the company’s third manufacturing site in India and forms part of its ₹500 crore expansion plan to deepen its presence and strengthen manufacturing capabilities in the country.
