Harni to get new fire station at ₹16.29 crore

Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has approved a proposal to construct a new fire station and 45 staff quarters in the Harni area at a cost of ₹16.29 crore.

The proposal was presented before the VMC Standing Committee and approved at its meeting on Friday. The new facility is aimed at ensuring a faster response to fire-related emergencies in the city’s northern zone.

The proposed fire station will feature a double-height open space for 10 fire tenders, along with a service station, store room, electrical room, strong room, control room and locker room on the ground floor. The first floor will have a training room, conference hall, locker room, cabin and record room.

The second floor will include a gym, dining room, fire drill tower and store room. In addition, five 3-BHK quarters for officers and 40 2-BHK staff quarters will be constructed behind the fire station.

The estimated net cost of the project is ₹15.85 crore. During the tendering process, Shivam Construction, one of the two bidders, quoted 2.78% above the estimated cost, taking the total project cost to ₹16.29 crore.

The VMC had initially planned to construct the fire station and staff quarters on Final Plot No. 143 of Harni TP-1. However, the location was later changed, and the project will now come up on Final Plot No. 72 of TP-2.
