Laxmi Vilas Palace Banquets staffer booked over billing fraud

Vadodara: Raopura police have registered a cheating case against an employee of Laxmi Vilas Palace (LVP) Banquets and Conventions, a hotel operated by the Gaekwad family, for allegedly withholding customer payments and failing to submit bills.

The accused, Pulak Maiti, joined LVP in 2023 and was later posted in the billing department of the hotel’s Gujarati Thali restaurant.

According to the complaint, 104 customers visited the restaurant on July 26, but bills were issued for only 87 diners. During an internal inquiry, the management allegedly found that Maiti had on several occasions failed to submit bills and deposit payments collected from customers.

The management subsequently called him for a meeting in July to seek an explanation, but he allegedly did not appear. The hotel then approached the police, alleging that Maiti had misappropriated around ₹54,000.

Raopura police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation into the allegations. DeshGujarat
