9 Mumbai-bound flights diverted to Surat airport amid bad weather

Surat: Surat International Airport handled nine Mumbai-bound flight diversions on Tuesday evening after adverse weather disrupted flight operations in Mumbai. Four more Mumbai-bound flights were diverted to Vadodara airport.
The nine flights diverted to Surat included services from Tiruchirappalli, Delhi, Chennai, Goa, Coimbatore, Bhopal and Bengaluru, operated by IndiGo and Air India.
Among the flights diverted to Vadodara were Air India services from Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Indore, along with an IndiGo flight from Delhi.
Surat airport director AN Sharma said the airport managed the additional flights without affecting its scheduled operations, with airport teams, airlines and security agencies coordinating to handle the increased traffic.
According to reports, nine diversions are among the highest handled by Surat airport in a single instance. DeshGujarat
