Luxury bus collides with truck on Ahmedabad – Vadodara Expressway; 5 killed, several injured

Anand: At least five people were killed and five others seriously injured after a luxury bus collided with a truck on the Vadodara-Ahmedabad Expressway early Wednesday morning. The accident took place around 4 am while most passengers were asleep, triggering panic among those travelling on the bus.

The Sai Darshan Travels bus had departed from Surat for Rajasthan and was travelling from Anand towards Nadiad when it crashed into the truck. The impact was severe, leaving several passengers trapped inside the bus.

After receiving information about the accident, a police team and local residents rushed to the spot and began rescue operations. The injured were pulled out of the damaged bus and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examinations after the necessary inquest proceedings.

One of the injured passengers, Dhanesh Jadhav of Surat, said he had boarded the bus in Surat and was asleep when he was suddenly jolted awake by a loud crash. He said panic and confusion spread among the passengers immediately after the collision.

The accident also disrupted traffic on the expressway for some time. Police cleared the damaged vehicles from the road and restored traffic movement.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the collision. DeshGujarat
