No bidders at auction: AMC seals four properties in Ahmedabad West over unpaid tax

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has sealed and taken possession of four properties in the West Zone after a public auction held to recover outstanding property tax dues received no bids. The action was taken by the West Zone Property Tax Department on Tuesday. The four properties had combined outstanding property tax dues of ₹1.22 crore as of March 31, 2026.

According to the civic body, the properties were attached after the owners or occupants failed to clear their dues despite final warning notices, attachment warrants and formal attachment orders issued under the provisions of the Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporations (BPMC) Act, 1949.

As no bidders participated in the auction, AMC officials padlocked and sealed the premises and took them into municipal possession.

The highest outstanding amount, ₹57.91 lakh, was against a property on the fifth floor of Garden Colony, behind Panchvati Petrol Pump on C.G. Road. The property is associated with New Aakruti Apartment Owners Association, with Pavilion Electronics listed as the occupant.

The other properties included Fairdeal House near Swastik Cross Roads in Navrangpura, with ₹32.51 lakh in pending tax; Lalita Complex on Rasala Marg in Navrangpura, with ₹25.24 lakh outstanding; and Gokul Complex opposite Nagari Hospital in Ellisbridge, where ₹6.64 lakh was due.

The AMC has warned property tax defaulters to clear their outstanding dues to avoid further enforcement action, including the attachment and sealing of properties. The civic body said such recovery measures and property auctions will continue. DeshGujarat
