Rs 50 drop-off charge for Cabs introduced at Ahmedabad Airport

Ahmedabad: Travelling to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in the city by cab is set to become costlier, with the airport operator introducing a ₹50 drop-off charge for taxis dropping passengers at the airport from Thursday (October 1).

The charge applies to commercial yellow-plate vehicles, including cabs and ride-hailing services such as Ola, Uber, Rapido, Bharat Taxi and other commercial taxis. As the fee is currently not integrated into cab aggregator fares, drivers are likely to collect the ₹50 separately from passengers.

The additional fee is ultimately expected to be passed on to passengers, effectively increasing the fare for those travelling to the airport by cab.

The airport has also shifted the designated parking area for commercial taxis from near International Terminal 2 (T2) to a location near Airport Circle, next to Hotel Ummed. Taxi operators will now have to use the new designated area.

Notably, according to the SVPI Airport website, private cars using the Terminal 1 kerbside (the designated roadway lanes right outside the terminal entrance and exit doors) have an eight-minute free pick-up period. After that, parking charges apply depending on the vehicle type and duration.

For commercial cars, the T1 kerbside parking charge is already ₹150 for up to eight minutes, followed by another ₹150 for every additional 10 minutes.

For private four-wheelers, parking is ₹100 for 8–20 minutes and ₹150 for 21–30 minutes, followed by ₹100 for every additional 10 minutes. DeshGujarat
