Utran railway station work to affect train services on Surat-Vadodara section in Oct

Surat: Train services on the Surat–Vadodara section of Western Railway’s Vadodara division will be affected on select dates in October as yard remodelling and Electronic Interlocking (EI) work is underway to develop Utran station as a satellite station.

According to the railway, blocks will be taken on different dates between October 1 and 16, 2026, resulting in the cancellation of one MEMU service and the regulated running of several long-distance trains.

Bharuch–Surat MEMU cancelled on 14 days

Train No. 69198 Bharuch–Surat MEMU will remain cancelled on October 1–3, 5–9 and 11–16 due to the work.

Several long-distance trains, including the Saurashtra Express, Swaraj Express, Haridwar–Valsad Express, Rajkot–Secunderabad Express, Rewa–Rajkot Express and Okha–Tirupati Express, as well as the Haridwar–Bandra Terminus Express, among others, will be regulated on different dates.

The delays will range from 10 minutes to up to 1 hour and 40 minutes, depending on the date and train.

The maximum regulation of 1 hour and 40 minutes has been announced for the following services:

  • October 7: Hazrat Nizamuddin–Mumbai Central Express
  • October 9: Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi–Bandra Terminus Special
  • October 14: Hazrat Nizamuddin–Mumbai Central Express
  • October 16: Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi–Bandra Terminus Special

Work expected to improve festive-season connectivity

Railway officials said the completion of the yard remodelling and EI work at Utran will help pave the way for operating holiday special trains to North India and other parts of the country during the upcoming festive season.

The development is expected to provide additional rail connectivity for passengers from the Surat region during the festival period.
