CNG Car Tank Explodes During Refuelling Near Karjan, No Serious Injuries, Video Goes Viral

Karjan: Panic broke out at a petrol and CNG pump on National Highway 48 near Karjan after the CNG tank of a car exploded during refuelling on Saturday. The incident occurred at a pump located opposite the Jindal company.

According to preliminary information, a motorist had stopped at the pump to refill the vehicle with CNG. While a pump attendant was filling gas through the nozzle, the vehicle’s CNG tank suddenly exploded with a powerful blast.

Two people were reportedly standing in front of the car at the time of the explosion. The blast severely damaged the rear section of the vehicle, while metal and glass fragments were thrown several metres away. Two other vehicles parked nearby were also damaged.

CCTV footage from the petrol pump showing the moment of the explosion has surfaced.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. The people travelling in the car were outside the vehicle during the refuelling process, which helped prevent casualties.

Following the incident, the Karjan fire brigade reached the spot and took precautionary measures to prevent any further fire or sparks. Police personnel also arrived and brought the situation under control.

Authorities have begun inspecting the circumstances surrounding the explosion and the safety arrangements at the CNG pump. A technical fault, excessive pressure or another issue with the vehicle’s CNG system is being examined as a possible cause. The exact cause of the explosion is yet to be established.
