Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met BlackRock Chief Operating Officer Robert Goldstein in the state capital. The discussion included the global investment management firm’s potential expansion in GIFT City, a press release said.
Patel invited BlackRock to establish operations in the international financial services hub and assured the company of the state government’s support. He also invited the firm to participate in the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027.
During the meeting, Goldstein briefed Patel on BlackRock’s journey since its establishment in 1988 and its operations across more than 40 countries, with assets under management totalling US$15.3 trillion.
BlackRock offers a range of investment products, including iShares exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Its Aladdin platform provides portfolio management and risk management solutions.
The discussions also covered the joint venture between BlackRock and Jio Financial Services, which operates in GIFT City. Patel expressed confidence that BlackRock’s presence in the financial hub, on a scale comparable to its operations in Singapore and Hong Kong, could help attract investment and strengthen India’s financial services sector.
