Gujarat Energy, GTL Pay Highest-Ever Annual Dividend of ₹384.67 Crore to State Govt
October 14, 2026
Gandhinagar: Gujarat Energy Limited (GEL) and GSPL Transmission Limited (GTL), both state government undertakings, have paid a combined dividend of ₹384.67 crore to the Gujarat government for the financial year 2025-26, marking the highest-ever dividend paid by a state-controlled company in a single financial year, according to an official release.
The dividend cheques were presented to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar by Avantika Singh, Managing Director of GEL and Vice Chairperson of GTL. Energy and Petrochemicals Minister Rushikesh Patel, Minister of State Kaushik Vekariya and the Chief Minister’s Principal Advisor, Hasmukh Adhia, were also present.
Of the total amount, GEL contributed ₹324 crore, while GTL paid ₹60.67 crore. The government said the contribution would support state revenue, development and public welfare initiatives.
The increase in dividend payments follows a Scheme of Arrangement involving the GSPC Group, which came into effect on May 1, 2026, coinciding with Gujarat Gaurav Diwas. Under the scheme, Gujarat Gas Limited was renamed Gujarat Energy Limited following the integration of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) into the company. Meanwhile, the gas transmission business previously operated by Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL) was transferred to GSPL Transmission Limited.
Following the restructuring, the Gujarat government’s shareholding in GEL increased from approximately 6% to 38%. It also acquired an approximately 38% stake in GTL, in which it previously held no direct shareholding.
The impact is reflected in the dividend figures. Gujarat Gas Limited paid a total dividend of approximately ₹81.55 crore to the state government over the three financial years from 2022-23 to 2024-25. In comparison, GEL alone paid ₹324 crore in dividends in 2025-26. DeshGujarat
