Saraspur-Side Entry Reopens at Ahmedabad Railway Station with New Foot Overbridge

Ahmedabad: Passenger access to Ahmedabad railway station from the Saraspur side has been restored with the opening of a newly constructed foot-overbridge, ending a four-month-long restriction. The bridge was inaugurated for passenger use by Western Railway’s Ahmedabad Division Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Ved Prakash and Ahmedabad MP Dinesh Makwana.

The reopening is expected to ease commuters’ access to the station, particularly ahead of the upcoming festive season, when passenger traffic typically increases. Railway authorities have also announced plans to open newly constructed platforms 9 to 12 before Diwali and introduce metro connectivity to the station before the festival.

Providing an update on the station’s redevelopment, DRM Ved Prakash said the integration project was progressing rapidly. He added that construction and modernization work was being carried out while maintaining regular station operations and train services.

According to the DRM, passenger safety and convenience remain priorities during the redevelopment. The railway administration is coordinating with the agencies concerned to complete the various stages of work within the stipulated timeframe while minimizing inconvenience to commuters.

The planned opening of platforms 9 to 12 is aimed at helping the station handle the expected rush during Diwali and Chhath Puja. The proposed metro connectivity is also expected to improve access to the railway station and provide passengers with an additional transport option. DeshGujarat
