Vadodara Gets 30 More Electric AC Buses Under PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme; Fleet Rises to 80

Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has increased its fleet of air-conditioned electric buses from 50 to 80 with the launch of 30 new buses under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme on Wednesday. The expansion aims to improve public transport services and reduce vehicular pollution in the city.

The new buses will operate on various city routes, providing greater convenience to daily commuters, including students, working professionals and senior citizens. The expanded fleet is also expected to improve service frequency and reduce waiting times for passengers.

The civic body plans to introduce a total of 200 electric buses across Vadodara in phases. In the first phase, 80 of the planned 130 buses have been introduced, while the remaining 50 are expected to hit the roads over the next three to four months. The buses in the subsequent phase will take the total fleet to 200.

The PM e-buses are equipped with features such as CCTV cameras and GPS tracking systems to enhance passenger safety and facilitate vehicle monitoring. They also have passenger-friendly flooring to improve accessibility.

The expansion is part of the civic body’s efforts to promote cleaner public transport, reduce dependence on conventional fuels and lower carbon emissions. The phased deployment of the remaining buses is expected to further strengthen Vadodara’s public transport network. DeshGujarat
