VMC Introduces Uniforms for Class III and IV Employees
October 14, 2026
Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has introduced a uniform system for its Class III and Class IV employees to improve discipline, facilitate the identification of civic staff and bring greater uniformity to municipal operations.
Under the initiative, uniform distribution began with around 3,848 permanent employees in the first phase. The civic body has approximately 13,000 employees in total, and uniforms will be distributed to other staff members in phases.
The uniforms are colour-coded according to employees’ departments and duties. Garden department staff will wear green uniforms, while streetlight department employees will wear blue. Sanitation workers will continue to wear khaki uniforms.
The initiative aims to help residents easily identify VMC employees while they perform their duties across the city. It is also intended to promote workplace discipline and bring a more systematic approach to civic services.
Officials said the civic body plans to continue the initiative in the coming years, providing uniforms annually, in line with practices followed in the corporate sector. The phased rollout is expected to extend the uniform system to more municipal employees over time. DeshGujarat
