Four Workers Killed in Blast at Chemical Unit in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar: Four workers were killed in an explosion at Kovika Dyes, a chemical manufacturing unit in Chhatral GIDC, Kalol taluka, on Thursday. Preliminary findings suggest excessive pressure buildup in a reduction vessel may have triggered the blast.

The deceased were identified as Vinodkumar Sind, Teda Dehari, Labhan Meena and Sinkandar Dehri. The explosion threw the four migrant workers against factory structures, killing them on the spot.

Kalol taluka police, fire brigade personnel and senior officials rushed to the site. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team is investigating the incident to establish the exact cause.

The Gandhinagar Fire Department suspects a mechanical fault in the reduction vessel. While preliminary information suggests the unit had the required fire NOC and other statutory permissions, authorities are examining all safety aspects. DeshGujarat
