Surat Police Bar JG Navratri Garba Over Missing Permissions
October 16, 2026
Surat: Saroli police have barred the organisers of JG Navratri from holding Garba celebrations at a venue near Roman Dine Hotel on Puna Canal Road in Surat without obtaining the necessary licences and permissions.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, police said the organisers had planned to conduct Navratri celebrations from October 11 to 20 but had failed to obtain the mandatory premises licence.
According to the notice, the organisers were required to submit the necessary documents and certificates under government regulations to secure the licence. However, they allegedly failed to provide the required documents despite being informed in writing, verbally and over the phone.
Police warned that the event could not be held without the requisite approvals and that legal action would be initiated if the organisers proceeded without permission.
The notice was addressed to Shakti Gohil, a resident of Varachha, and named three other organisers, Jay Gohil, Sahil Domadiya and Jaydeep Galoliya.
As per police, the organisers have failed to produce several mandatory permissions, including those from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department, a fire safety clearance and a structural stability report, among other documents. DeshGujarat
