Gujarat to Get Rs 2,000 Crore Central Grant for 2030 Commonwealth Games
October 17, 2026
New Delhi: The Union Sports Ministry has proposed a grant-in-aid of Rs 2,000 crore to the Gujarat government to organise the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.
The financial assistance has been included in the revised guidelines under the Assistance to National Sports Federations (ANSF) scheme.
Ahmedabad secured the hosting rights for the centenary edition of the Commonwealth Games last year, defeating Nigeria in the bidding process.
According to the ministry, financial assistance to the Gujarat government to meet its commitment towards organising the 2030 Commonwealth Games will be capped at Rs 2,000 crore at 2025 prices. The amount is expected to increase to approximately Rs 2,500 crore by 2030 after accounting for changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
The funds will be disbursed based on requests for financial assistance submitted by the Gujarat government. DeshGujarat
