Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Stretch Shut After LNG Tanker Gas Leak Near Vadodara
October 19, 2026
Vadodara: A section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Nandesari, close to Vadodara, was closed after a speeding milk tanker collided with an LNG tanker carrying highly flammable liquefied natural gas, triggering a gas leak and disrupting traffic. Emergency teams rushed to the spot as the leak raised fears of a possible fire or explosion.
Police, the expressway authority’s rescue team and fire brigade personnel launched an emergency operation to contain the situation. Firefighters continuously sprayed water on the tanker to cool it and reduce the risk of a major incident.
As a precautionary measure, one side of the expressway was completely closed, leading to long queues of vehicles and significant traffic congestion. Traffic was diverted near Karjan, while traffic police and expressway security personnel worked to manage vehicle movement.
The emergency operation continued for several hours, with response teams working cautiously to bring the situation under control. Their efforts helped prevent a potentially major disaster.
Authorities were also working to move the tanker to a safe location and clear the affected stretch of the expressway. Motorists were advised to exercise caution and follow the designated traffic diversions. DeshGujarat
