Surat: A fire broke out at Adinath Textile Market in Surat’s Salabatpura area on Monday morning, triggering a major response from the fire department. The blaze erupted in a shop on the third floor of the market, located in a lane opposite Mandarwaja near Moti Begamwadi.
The fire control room received an alert at around 10:45 am, following which fire tenders from multiple fire stations were rushed to the spot. Thick smoke billowing from the market was visible from a distance.
Around 14 to 15 fire tenders and other emergency vehicles from 10 fire stations were deployed to tackle the blaze. Firefighters launched an operation to douse the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring shops.
Senior fire department officials, including the Chief Fire Officer, Deputy Chief Fire Officer and Divisional Fire Officers, also reached the scene to oversee the operation.
The fire was eventually brought under control and contained to a single shop, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the market. However, firefighters continued cooling operations to deal with the heavy smoke and ensure the area was safe.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. DeshGujarat
