3 Killed While Returning from Garba as Car Overturns in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar: Three people, including a 25-year-old MBBS student from Rajkot, died after a speeding Hyundai Verna crashed into a road divider and overturned near Maharaja Hotel on Adalaj Road in Gandhinagar early Tuesday. A fourth occupant, a young man, remains in critical condition.

The accident occurred when the four friends, two men and two women, were returning to Ahmedabad after participating in Garba celebrations in Gandhinagar on Monday night. The driver reportedly lost control of the car, which mounted the divider and overturned due to the impact and high speed.

Two occupants, a young man and a young woman, died on the spot, while the other two were rushed to nearby K.D. Hospital in critical condition. The 25-year-old woman, identified as Aastha, later succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment. The injured man continues to receive treatment.

Aastha was originally from Rajkot and was a final-year MBBS student residing in a hostel in Ahmedabad. The identities of the other two deceased occupants have yet to be established.

The crash left the car severely mangled, trapping the occupants inside. Passers-by and motorists rushed to the scene and helped rescue them. Police later cleared the road by removing the wrecked vehicle with a crane.

Adalaj Police Inspector S. G. Desai said two men and two women were travelling in the car when it hit the divider and overturned while they were returning from Garba celebrations. Police are investigating the accident and working to establish the identities of the deceased. DeshGujarat
