Ahmedabad DEO Seeks Permanent Derecognition of Al Falah Islamic School
October 20, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad City (East) District Education Officer (DEO) has recommended permanent cancellation of recognition for Al Falah Islamic School in Rakhial after an inquiry allegedly found that the school was conducting Classes VI to VIII without government approval and had enrolled 1,252 students in Classes I to V against a sanctioned capacity of 200.
The DEO has also sought permission to file a police complaint against the school management.
The case came to light following a complaint on the chief minister’s portal. After a preliminary inquiry, the school was fined Rs 10,000 and asked to explain the alleged violations. A special committee formed under the Right to Education (RTE) framework submitted its report on October 15.
According to the report, the school was approved in 2018 to operate one section each for Classes I to V, with a total capacity of 200 students. However, investigators found 1,252 students enrolled in these classes, while Classes VI to VIII were allegedly being conducted without approval.
The inquiry also found that student records on the Child Tracking System (CTS) portal were linked to the UDISE number of Cherry Blossom English School, which had already shut down. Documents submitted by the complainant also showed that his daughter, a former student of Al Falah Islamic School, was issued a leaving certificate by RA Primary School. DeshGujarat
