49 Gujarat Youth Congress Office-Bearers Suspended for Skipping INDI Alliance Rally in Delhi

Ahmedabad: The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) has suspended 49 office-bearers from Gujarat, including state-level leaders and district presidents, for allegedly skipping the INDIA bloc rally held at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on November 1. The suspensions have been imposed with immediate effect until further notice, according to an order issued by the IYC national leadership on November 3.

The disciplinary action is part of a wider crackdown against 215 office-bearers across seven states and the Uttar Pradesh Central unit for their absence from the Opposition rally. The IYC leadership has taken a strict view of the absence, treating it as a failure to follow organisational directions at a major political event.

Among those suspended in Gujarat are 25 state-level office-bearers, including general secretaries representing Open, OBC, SC/ST and minority categories, as well as state secretaries. The list also includes 24 district-level office-bearers, comprising district presidents from Ahmedabad Rural, Amreli, Anand, Aravalli, Banaskantha, Bharuch, Dang, Devbhumi Dwarka, Gandhinagar Rural, Gandhinagar City, Gir Somnath, Junagadh Rural, Junagadh City, Mahisagar, Mehsana, Narmada, Navsari, Panchmahal, Patan, Porbandar, Rajkot City, Sabarkantha, Surendranagar and Vadodara City.

The rally at Ramlila Maidan was organised by the INDIA bloc against alleged irregularities in electoral rolls, with the Congress seeking to mobilise Opposition parties and supporters over concerns surrounding the electoral process.

The suspensions across other states include 60 office-bearers from Madhya Pradesh, 32 from Jharkhand, 26 from West Bengal, 14 from Telangana, 13 from Himachal Pradesh and 10 from Haryana, besides 11 from Uttar Pradesh Central.
