As soon as Dr Subramanian Swamy named Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Rajya Sabha today, the Congress MPs started creating ruckus. They stood up making noise in attempt to prevent Dr Swamy to say anything further. Congress MPs altogether rushed to the well of Rajya Sabha and started making abusive remarks and aggressive gestures at Dr Swamy.

As soon as Samajwadi Party MP Naresh Agrawal completed his comments on Augusta Westland scam, the Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha asked Dr. Swamy to speak. Dr. Swamy sought five minutes to speak as opposition was given five minutes to make their point. However Deputy Speaker told Dr Swamy to make his point only in three minutes.

Dr. Swamy who has been nominated as Rajya Sabha member on his second day in Rajya Sabha today started speaking for the first time, “before coming to the my notice, it was touching to see the Leader of Opposition relying on Mr. Michell for what he said orally. But the High Court of Italy has recorded a letter written by Mr. Michell stating that Ms Sonia Gandhi is the main……..”

As soon as he named Sonia Gandhi, the Congress MP started creating ruckus, making noises and didn’t allow to speak Dr Swamy further. They rushed to the well and started making aggressive gesture looking at Dr. Swamy who was still standing on foot so that he could complete his point.

BJP MP Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was heard saying, “one who paid bribe is in jail while those who received bribe are in well(space in front of Chairman’s position in Rajya Sabha)”.

The house was adjourned soon.

Once the house met again, Congress MPs resumed noise and protests standing on foot.

Deputy Chairman at this juncture told Dr. Swamy, “Mr. Subramanian Swamy, even though it is your first day now but you have been member of this house for long time, even in 1970s. You know that the name of the member of the other house should not be taken here. A member can not come and defend here should not be taken. Being the first day I am saying don’t repeat it. The name of member you have taken of other house is expunged.Now you continue.”

Soon Congress members again came to well and didn’t allow Dr. Subramanian Swamy to speak.

BJP MP Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was heard saying that member’s right to make his point must be protected. Let discussion take place, but such disturbance would not serve the purpose.

The house was adjourned again.

The house met again at 12.00 noon for question hour. Congress MPs again tried to create ruckus. Their leader Ghulam Nabi Azad sought apology from Dr. Swamy while Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi from BJP side objected the behavior of Congress MPs.

On request of Chairman of the house, the question hour however proceeded further.
