Mumbai: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi recently launched Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation(GCMMF)’s fresh cow milk branded as “A2 Desi”.

The milk brand launched by PM is unique as it is the milk of Kankrej Cows that are known for productivity and quality.

But another unique thing is packaging of A2 milk.

A2 Desi is packaged in a unique PET bottle. A2 Desi will be sold in Ahmedabad in a safe and environmentally friendly PET bottles.

PET as a packaging material is safer for human health compared to glass and aluminium. Also it is environment friendly as it has lowest carbon emission and requires least amount of energy. PET packaging also helps in increasing the shelf life of the packaged food item due to inertness and its top class barrier property.

The PET bottles used to pack “A2 Desi” milk are manufactured and supplied by Sunrise Containers using top quality PET resin “RELPET” of Reliance Industries.

The fresh milk packaging in PET bottle is well accepted and its popularity is spreading in most of the metros in India. Parag Dairy started this 3 years ago at Pune and sells ” Pride of Cows” in PET in Mumbai and Pune. They have launched in NCR now. PET packaging is also beneficial to dairy industry not only because it is safe and environmentally safe but also it is a cost efficient alternative as it reduces transportation costs and wastage due to breakages.

In Jaipur “Sahaj” is sold in PET. With Amul launching this, other dairies across the country are expected to follow the consumer’s choice of packaging material.
