New Delhi: The Supreme Court, which is hearing a plea filed by the Congress against Goa governor Mridula Sinha’s decision appointing BJP leader Manohar Parrikar as the chief minister, has refused to stay swearing-in of Parrikar. Manohar Parrikar is going to swear in today as new Chief Minister of Goa. The floor test is likely to take place at 11.00 am on 16 March with the senior-most MLA taking over as the Speaker to conduct it.

The apex court slammed the Congress for not staking claim to form government and meet the Governor Mridula Sinha for that before filing a plea.

Parrikar has claimed the support of in-total 22 MLAs including 13 MLAs of the BJP, three MLAs of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), three MLAs of Goa Forward Party (GFP) and two independents. MLAs in 40-member house.
